We are reviving our Ethnic Dinner Series, which ran from 1999 to 2007 and was enjoyed by many members. Interspersing our speakers' and other events, the Dinner Series is our culinary homage to the long and distinguished tradition of area studies at the School. We restart with the beautiful Vietnamese cuisine followed, later in the year, by a Mongolian feast. Vietnam has had a tough recent history. Following the Japanese occupation during WWII, the First Indochina War against France and the Vietnam War against the United States impoverished the Vietnamese nation. Only in the mid-1980's did its national leadership manage to initiate the necessary economic and political reforms for integrating Vietnam into the world economy. Since then, Vietnam has experienced rapid social and economic change and is today enjoying one of the highest economic growth rates in the world. You and your partner and guests are cordially invited to the Vietnamese Dinners on Monday, 2 February 2015, at 19:00
