Launching our Jubilee Year, you and your partner are cordially invited to the Evening Summer Party gracefully hosted by SLSEAA member Martin Last ('83) and his wife Vera at their Gallery of British Art on Wednesday, 14 May 2003, from 18:30 onwards. Dress: Business to casual Lead Officer: The Secretary General About your hosts: Martin spent his childhood in Norwich, England. He studied International History at the LSE from 1980 to 1983. After graduating, Martin stayed in London, joining the accountancy firm Coopers & Lybrand and training as an insurance specialist. In 1992, he took the opportunity to move with the firm to Zurich and the responsibility for the Zurich Financial Services account. While working at C & L he met his Swiss wife Vera, a fellow accountant. They married in 1996. At the end of 1999, Martin joined Deloitte & Touche as an insurance specialist partner. From his earliest days, Martin was always a keen arts collector, collecting amongst other things contemporary art and crafts, entertainment memorabilia and vintage postcards. As time went on these passions became more and more important to him. On reaching 40 in May last year, Martin decided to leave the world of accountancy to concentrate full-time on his passion for art. He opened "LAST", a Zurich gallery specialising in contemporary British art and design, in June last year (www.lastgallery.com).
